Straw Painting
If you ever get tired of paint brushes and globs of paint using a straw to paint with is a great change in tools! The Brothers and I used this technique with our Valentine's Day cards this year and it has quickly become a favorite. We use less paint and the clean up is much easier. I also like that Shane can experience a different way to paint. Sometimes we use brunches, sometimes sponges, but lately we have been painting with paper straws and love it!
Supplies
paper straw (paper absorbs the paint better than a plastic straw and they are thicker)
washable paint
paper
wet wipe for clean up
plate or egg carton for paint pallet
Directions
1. Pour a small amount of pain in the individual egg carton spots or onto a plate. Using the straw, dip the tip into the paint and stamp the painted side onto the paper.
2. To extend the activity you can use coloring pages, practice letters, and teach about others artist who use a dot technique in their work.
Shane learned about George Seurat and we studied A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte,
